It's not often people have the chance to communicate with members of the Florida Legislature without taking a trip to Tallahassee. At the most recent meeting of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation, three state senators and seven representatives from the county sat down with community leaders. Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Grego, was one of three education leaders asked to address the delegation. Grego told lawmakers how critical it is to prepare students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. He called for legislators to fund STEM programs at the middle and high school levels. He also spoke about the proposed across-the-board raises for teachers that Governor Rick Scott has recommended to lawmakers.
