Mr. Sox is the sometimes gentle alpha male in a family group of 11 magpies. The family comprises 2 mature males, 2 mature females and seven juniors all 3 or more years of age. This 'rabble' protects a territory around my house and lagoon area in excess of 8 acres. The video was created in the open alfresco of my home, where he and the family visit daily to get treats. They forage for food around their natural habitat and do not depend solely on human intervention. Mr. Sox and the other male, Persil are the only 2 of the group who 'talk' this way, but very seldom.
